Hometown: Lincoln, Nebraska

For the past 20 years, Paul has woken up before dawn on a chilly Sunday morning in December to go count birds for the Audubon Society Christmas Bird Count before returning downtown to perform for the Nutcracker. A highly skilled naturalist, Paul regularly assists both governmental and non-profit organizations in conducting surveys of a variety of Virginia fauna such as dragonflies, and has published numerous papers about them. Although he plays the double bass in the Richmond Symphony, Paul is the cellist of the Silverleaf String Quartet, an ensemble which performs for hundreds of weddings and other events in the Richmond area.
